My MacBook Pro is a 15' 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8Gb 1067 MHz DDR3 ram. RobertoOK I'll concentrate on my laptop settings which is the lessor of the two. Do I need more RAM? I can max out the RAM, if needed - I would be curious to see what your settings are in Parallels, and what the recommended step by step procedure is for setting up. I have increased the allotted RAM from the default 1GB to 2 GB (half my processor speed). I find Revit to run painfully slow in a 100+mb file when I rotate the model, it jumps to the end after more than 2 seconds of waiting for the screen to refresh. I am running Revit 2010 in Windows 7 (beta) via VMW Fusion on a 17' MacBook Pro w/2.66GHz, 4GB Core 2 Duo and the 9600M GT Graphics Card active. Installing Windows is dead easy, I pretty much followed the guidelines in the Parallels book (knowing I had more than enough ram available) but I'll see if I can create a step by step process for those interested. The only issues (non-Revit) to date has been the fact I couldn't get a printer driver for my old HP Designjet500 printer to run in Vista 64 or Mac OSX (strangely the Mac recognised it as a DJ 500 plus, which it wasn't, so it work work) - we gave me an excuse to get a new wide format printer, which works brilliantly.Īt AU2007, Phill Read (I think) did a paper on virtualization using Revit in both Fusion & Parallels - I'm sure that's still about, otherwise I can dig it up from my old harddrive.

and I love the flexibility that Parallels provides. I've since uninstalled Bootcamp from the laptop, as I find I don't use Revit and other windows programs in that way. At first, I'll admit I did install bootcamp on both of my machines (MacPro desktop & MacBook Pro laptop).

I love using using Revit in Parallels - in fact I do it almost exclusively now. My 2 cents as I just acquired a MacBook Pro. How do you like running the Windows with Parallels? Did you try BootCamp prior to that? If not, any issues with installation of Windows with Parallesl? It would be nice to find a step-by-step process on how to install Windows on the Mac under both BootCamp and/or Parallels and how to optimize the performance to run Revit.
